The Find Local Help Now app is currently in development in response to an ever growing community need.

My name is Britt and I run Regional Education and Career Help Australia (REACHAU) which is a local training provider of First Aid and Employment readiness programs. I am a one person small business with a varied work history. I have worked in logistics, warehousing, fitness and hospitality.

I saw a call out from Homelessness WA We Care Serpentine Jarrahdale, which is a not for profit group that does what they can, when they can, to assist people living rough. This led to a few cook ups and packaging up meals to be distributed to those who needed them most.

On social media I have been noticing more frequent calls out for food/basic life necessities as well as community members offering to fill these needs. Offering food they have cooked in excess to their own needs, businesses who have invited people to come for a free meal or shower.

There appears to be a need for these connections to be brought together in a safe manner. I don't want to see someone getting hurt on either end of the transaction.

This app will help people connect with safe drop points available, offering offline functionality, low power mode functionality, built-in privacy protection, connect with shelter or safe places to put up camp. It is backed by Gemini AI and Google search for the most live and up to date search results and the ability to get results when not connected to the internet or out of phone credit.

The food button will connect with local organisations, community members, food hampers, how to access various food bank type options. It will connect people who want to assist (with food) with people who need assistance now.

The shelter button will connect with the closest open organisations that assist with shelter, community members offering rooms for rent, community members with land that people could safely set up camp on.

The health button will connect to local services with the closest open options showing first. These include information on Urgent Care clinics that bulk bill, general practices that bulk bill, mobile health services, community health services, general health information relevant to people living rough.

The jobs button will connect initially to REACHAU where their needs will be assessed and then will be referred to the most appropriate services provider. This may or may not be a program that REACHAU offers depending on the persons needs, suitability and locality.

This app is built for the community first. The goal is simple to use, works in low power mode and with the ability to access resources while offline.
